10 Observations

We know that learning and practising Tai Chi and Qigong has many benefits, some of which are improved coordination, memory, balance, muscle strength and endurance.  However, Tai Chi is so much more than that!

My 10 Observations about other benefits of Tai Chi are, in no particular order:

  1. It’s challenging - physically, mentally and cognitively

  2. It’s meditative - we learn to be in the moment

  3. It’s beautiful - it is an art form that evokes an emotion

  4. It’s social - we enjoy each other’s company

  5. It can be frustrating - we realise we can’t know everything, so we develop humility and acceptance

  6. It develops confidence - we have the opportunity to achieve things we never thought possible

  7. It requires patience - we become more forgiving with ourselves (and hopefully with others)

  8. It requires a sense of humour - we never take ourselves too seriously and realise it’s not about perfection, but enjoyment

  9. It is addictive - we want to keep learning, we want to know more, we want to advance in our understanding and skills

  10. The learning is never ending - there is always something else to learn and to discover

If 10 people were asked for their 10 observations, I’m sure we would have a much longer and diverse list!  Tai Chi is so many different things to different people.  What are your top 10 Tai Chi Observations?
