Our Venues
Rising Moon Tai Chi is fortunate to hold classes at several venues across the Mornington Peninsula. Each venue has its own unique history and story, making these spaces more than just hired rooms. They provide meaningful and inspiring environments in which our Tai Chi groups can practise while appreciating the rich history around them.
Mount Martha House Community Centre
Mount Martha House began as the grand Mt Martha Coffee Palace in 1889-90, built by the Mount Martha Estate Company as a grand guest house (Coffee Palace) for wealthy Melburnians, designed by architects Tappin, Gilbert & Dennehy. It later become a hotel, then requisitioned by the military during WWII, serving as the No. 30 WRAAC Barracks for the Women's Royal Australian Army Corps from 1952 to 1974. The site played a significant role in accommodating and training women for various non-combat military roles after World War II. The Shire purchased it in 1978, preserving its Federation Queen Anne architecture and rich history.
Mount Martha Uniting Church
The Mount Martha church community is part of the Uniting Church in Australia and serves as a welcoming place of worship and community life. In addition to regular services, the church opens its doors to a wide range of groups and activities. The hall is used by local playgroups, table tennis, karate, and dance classes, and it is an ideal space for our tai chi sessions. The venue also offers the option of practicing outdoors, allowing us to enjoy the beautiful gardens, vegetable patch, and expansive, well-kept grounds.
Hastings Community Hub
Hastings Community Hub, at 1973 Frankston-Flinders Road was previously called the Hastings Leisure Centre, with group exercise room, squash courts, boxing and basketball. In 2011, the Hastings Leisure Centre underwent a significant redevelopment, supported by government grants. The project established new meeting rooms, art spaces, and community kitchen facilities to reinvigorate community activity. Since 2014, it has been managed by Advance Community College, offering various community, educational, and recreational programs. It encourages community and small business groups to use their facilities and, as the name suggests, it is a hub of various activities and when we enter the venue, we are warmly welcomed by the management staff. For special occasions, we have access to the kitchen, meaning we can prepare and serve food with ease and enjoy a relaxed meal after class.
The Studio Wilsons Rd Mornington
The Studio @ PCT is a beautiful venue that we use for our Festivals, and from 2026 for our Friday and Saturday morning classes. It operates as part of the Mornington Community Hub precinct, which also houses the Mornington Community House, 'The Corner' Youth Centre, and RPP FM radio station.
