Ting Jin

Ting Jin literally means 'listening energy'.  Ting Jin is the ability to sense your opponent’s force and movement, allowing you to respond and redirect it.

Ting Jin training is a partner training method to help to develop balance, sensitivity, reflex, body position, and coordination with mind and body.   It improves our Tai Chi form through a better understanding of movement, energy and flow.

Ting Jin is often referred to as ‘Push Hands’, but this suggests using strength to overpower an opponent.  There are many ‘Push Hands’ videos, but many of the participants resort to what looks like wrestling, which is not in the spirit of Ting Jin.
